Ramadan Mode ON✨

‎السّلام عليكم ورحمت الله و بركاته

Hello and welcome!

This is going to be a little different from the kind of posts I make. What I mean is that this is all random. All I am planning to do today is blabber some things that is in my mind right now:|

First and foremost, thank you to all those of you who encourage me to continue blogging. Honestly, there are days when I feel I should stop doing this. I feel like ‘maybe this is not my thing’. But then there’s a notification where one of you leaves me a comment that makes my day. It leaves me so happy to know that I have been able to inspire you to some sort of good. Each one of you who engage in my blog life, both my fellow bloggers and friends – Thank you! You are a BIG part of my energy source! 🙌🏻

Also, it is quite a challenge for me to balance my blog life. Being halfway through my medschool, this is clearly not my priority. It’s for me to act like a boss, and schedule time for my college studies, to pursue my religious education , find time for my family and bloglife. This is why I don’t have plans of being a daily blogger any time soon. Nor do I want to take blogging as a pressure on me. I blog because writing is my passion and that’s it. But I do my best to blog on a weekly basis on topics I’m most passionate about:)

The month of Ramadan is at the doorstep. Let me tell you a little about this, because I know a huge part of my readership is people from a lot of other faiths. This is celebration time for all the muslims around. It is not hunger or thirst we experience, rather it is a feeling of accomplishment that is felt as each fast is completed. This is when we feel like we are truly serving the purpose for which we were created, to worship the ONE and only God, is fulfilled. This is the month of enormous blessings. The Qur’an was revealed in this month. We believe, the reward of every good deed is so many times multiplied than the other eleven months, which is why, people are extra charitable, more patient and so on during this month. And the last ten days of it is so much more special in terms of reward. At the end of the whole one month of sincere devotion and worship, we mark it’s end with a festival ,the Eid- all in order to share the joy of how much closer each one got with their Creator through their worship. ✨

And then, excuse me, I’m taking a break. At present, I have no plans of blogging for the next one month. Nothing in particular, just that there’s so much Ramadan to-do’s on my list right now. But then I felt like I should do a Ramadan motivation post for the last ten special days of Ramadan. So, I came up with the following solution. I am planning to write a post on ‘tips for maximising worship in the last ten days’ now and I would post it on the 21st eve probably. That way, I can save myself some time in Ramadan! And who knows? Maybe I might reblog something useful or post an image or so. No idea:/ As of now, the regular weekly posts are going to be on a pause. And if Allah wills, I will get back to my weekly blogging schedule soon after Ramadan ان شاء الله.

I had recently shifted my apartment and I wish to share with you some Room Decor ideas. I am also expecting my sessional exams soon after Ramadan. So basically, I have a lot of exciting DIYs, study tips, book reviews and many more things planned for you all and I can’t wait to share them with you. All those who requested me for different posts, I haven’t forgotten, I’ll do them, I promise!

Also comment below if you have any blog post request for me. I would love to write what you would love to read!❤️

Keep me in your prayers!🙌🏻

Have a productive Ramadan!🌙

Thank you once again!💐

السّلام عليكم ورحمت الله و بركاته
Hello & warm welcome once again!

With Ramadan less than 2 weeks ahead, I cannot think of anything better than sharing with you some tips and tricks to go an extra mile this Ramadan and make the MOST of it. Oye,I have no magic to tell you. But personally, these are some tips that helped me sail through the past two Ramadans and hit Eid with a sense of satisfaction.
And if you are thinking ‘Nah, Isn’t it too early to prep up for Ramadan?’, No, we are way behind. But don’t lose hope, better late than never.

Now imagine a valley full of gold and you are told to take from it as much as you can. Which of the three types of people are you?

1. The type that will just not care and move on thus taking nothing, or

2. The type that will fill up their pockets and leave, or

3. The type that will bring trucks after trucks taking truckloads until it’s over.

It’s clear, without a doubt that all of us will be of the third type. However, the month of Ramadan is greater than a valley full of gold but yet you will find the majority of the people simply not interested and will leave empty handed. This is an interesting analogy that I read somewhere last Ramadan:)

Start preparing for Ramadan before it sets in, make to-do lists, clean up your spaces for worship and cleanse your heart. Purify your intentions, seek the reward only from Allah and then ان شاء الله (if Allah wills) you will find time for everything you thought you wouldn’t.

I am not going to give you an exhaustive list of to-do’s. Plus you don’t have to stick to every single step. Pick up those you feel are ‘the’ ones for you and work them up.

So, yeah, roll up your sleeves and let’s get started!

1. Before speaking of anything that adds up to your productivity, first let’s address any issue that costs you distractions. Delete those useless games off your phone, stop watching those Youtube videos for entertainment and everything else not worth getting into your Ramadan schedule. Maybe it’s nothing haram, still, keep it outside Ramadan if its not clearly not necessary. So No.1 – ward off distractions!

2. Set Quran memorisation goals for the month. Maybe you have never done one. Or maybe you feel you are too old for it. Or your memory isn’t good enough. Stop. Stop making yourself believe this nonsense. You never know what wonders you can do unless you fail at least ten times. You don’t have to compete with anybody. You don’t even have to tell anyone. Pick up a surah you feel you can complete in 30 days. Download a good slow recitation and listen to it a minimum of 15 times. If you confused where and how to begin ,check out my post on How to memorise Quran . Trust me, nothing is going to stand in comparison to the happiness you’ll feel at the end of the month. You may ask why this is so important, it’s because Allah introduces this month in the Quran as,  “Ramadan is the (month) in which the Quran was sent down, as a guide to mankind and a clear guidance and judgment (so that mankind will distinguish from right and wrong)..” (Q 2:183)

3. Learn 20 duas by the end of the month. We all have those mini sized books quoting all duas. Duas are to be in our hearts and not papers. If you don’t have one, download the Fortress of a Muslim and kick a start. C’mon. This isn’t hard. 20 duas in 30 days.

4. Make it the month of Ramadan. Try to build an incredible connection with the Qur’an this month. Choose a surah, maybe it’s the same one you are memorising or some other- doesn’t matter. Learn the meaning of it. Find an authentic tafsir online or buy one and read it over and over this month. If you have no idea what I’m telling you, start reading from Tafsir Ibn Kathir. Let it penetrate your heart so much that every time you think of Ramadan 2017, you have happy memories of that surah. Go out of your way to internalize it. If you feel you are going to see a dip in motivation to move further a little later, Buddy up! Find a Friend who hold a similar interest and hook up. That way, you can encourage each other. Go find one!

5. Find a small sized notebook to list down all things you wish to make dua for this Ramadan. Let it run from teeny weeny things like asking Allah to make you brave to big things like refuge from the hellfire. One side of the book be for this list in English and one side for Arabic duas from the Qur’an and sunnah. I made myself one like 2 years ago and it still helps. Without one, you’ll find yourself scratching your head when you are sitting down to pray. It’s not always that you remember all the things you ever wanted. A written list makes it super easy!

6. Block an hour or 45 min purely for the recitation of Quran . It’s okay if you don’t understand what’s being said, there’s still abundant rewards.

7. WARNING: This tip is only for those who are able to control your use of gadgets. If you are sure you will not waste your time over other useless apps, download the Ramadan Legacy app available both on the AppStore and PlayStore. It is super amazing. I’ve used it during Ramadan in the past two years and I rate it 5-stars. It helps you track down all the progress you are making and there’s so much more! The 2017 version of the app will be available in a few days and their team sent me a mail claiming to have a new planner and so many new features, yippee! I’m excited!

And last but not least, the others. Don’t miss your suhoor(pre-dawn meal). Don’t overeat at Iftar. Break the fast with dates or water. Stay up at night for some extra prayers (taraweeh). Try getting your to-do’s done right after fajr prayers if possible. Don’t miss out on your morning and evening dikr. Plan things around salah times. Don’t associate Ramadan with hunger and thirst. Don’t sleep all day long. Seek a lot of forgiveness. Make it an amazing spiritual experience. Fast is not just for your stomachs but for your tongues, ears ,eyes and the entire self. And try involving in every bit of good possible.

Yeah! I guess that’s all I have got to share with you right now. Share in the comments below your ideas and tips too!

Now, here’s a small takeaway. Download/Print  this 2017 Ramadan Tracker and paste it on your wall if you are planning to join me in ‘working out’ this Ramadan!

Share the message as much as possible and inspire others to goodness too!

May Allah (SWT) make us of those who take full benefit of this blessed month ahead!

Easy vermicelli snack 🍪

‎السّلام عليكم ورحمت الله و بركاته
Hello and welcome!

This time, as per a request, I am sharing with you a quick and easy snack recipe made using vermicelli. It’s something that you can prepare and store for some time without the fear of spoilage and could serve as a good snack at tea time. Plus, it’s something that you could count on to munch down anytime.

All you need are four ingredients:

Vermicelli (I’ve used about 400 grams)

Sweetened condensed milk (about 1/4 cup)

Cashew nuts or pistachios (few)

Ghee or oil

1. Powder the cashews or pistachios. Pistachios are more preferable. But I have used cashew nuts. I have messed up this process by powdering it excessively😬 Let it remain in small chunks rather than fine powdery form.

2. Heat a deep pan. Pour in some ghee/oil. When it is heated, roast the cashews till golden colour.
3. Add the vermicelli and roast until it turns brown.

4. Remove the pan from the heat and add sweetened condensed milk little by little and keep mixing till mix gets sticky and sweet.

5. Once the mixture has cooled slightly, stuff them in bottle caps of any desired size and push them out as shown. This process has to be done before the vermicelli hardens.

I was able to prepare about 51 of them using 400g of vermicelli , NOT to mention the amount I ate while I moulded them:D So you decide how much to take!

Yummmm..! 😋Absolutely easy and simple! The best part being that you could keep it for many days. And you only need a handful of ingredients. Do try this if you’re interested and let me know by leaving a comment below!

The Blue Sky Tag- My first ever tag!

Hey everyone! This is going to be my first tag that I am doing. It is now three months into my blog life and I have not yet done a tag. I had been nominated for two Award tags before and I didn’t know how to proceed with the tag then:D Now ,on the occasion of me hitting a 100 followers ,I have decided to do all three of them.✨
This is The Blue Sky Tag I’m doing first. I’ve been nominated by Lee from the Golden Pink Journal. Her blog is super amazing and very helpful if you are looking out for positivity . You should definitely head to her blog after reading this.

The rules for the tag are as follows:-

* Answer the 11 questions given to you

* Nominate and tag 11 people

* Give 11 questions for your nominee

Here are the answers to her questions:-

Can you see the sky from where you are sitting now? Describe the scene.

Nope… Right now, I’m under a strong, concrete roof.:P

Come up with a name for a hybrid fruit of strawberry and banana. What did you come up with?

Have you posted anything today other than this tag?

What is your least favorite fruit?

Umm..I can’t think of any depends on the weather and my mood most of the times.. but I would say bananas maybe😐

What are the first 3 things that come to mind when you think of Spring?

Beautiful weather, picturesque sight of the sun setting and the vibrant green leaves.🌵

Do you have any vacations planned for this summer?

Nope..being in med school, vacations are a long lost memory. Anyway, I am not the kind of person who plans vacations before hand. For me, all my life, we go on vacations in a decision dad takes all of a sudden.

Are you currently reading any books? Which books are you reading?

Yes, currently I am reading The Zahir by Paulo Coehlo. Ah! I love his books!

What is the initial of your middle name?

Other than writing/blogging, what is something you think you’re good at?

I guess I am good at painting, making DIYs and calligraphy ( especially in Arabic) . Also I’m very good at procrastinating.😬

Can you name 3 singers who would definitely be on any of your playlists?

I don’t listen to music so count me out!

What is one thing your parents always told you to stay away from or not to do as a child?

To stay away from evil company! I used to be someone who could be easily influenced and i guess I’ve heard that a zillion times from my mum!

I nominate the following blogs for the tag:

Tabi Bee

Pink for Days

Outdoor decor DIYs🍃

‎السّلام عليكم ورحمت الله و بركاته

Welcome back!

I am home for a few days and As you can see, I am impacted by my mum’s garden. She has a HUGE variety of herbs and flowers in there. All I could think of was how to fit in some DIY into the space:P If you are wondering why this post is here, let me tell you, it’s just ‘coz I blog about pretty much anything that’s happening in my life;D

So, I have two decor ideas to share with you this time, one of it is the Key Wind Chime and the other a Virtual Bird House!

Key Wind Chime 🗝

All you need is a bunch of old, unwanted keys ,some paint and brush and some yarn/thread.

1. Paint the keys with different colours of your choice. I used the pearl acrylic colours so that the keys glitter under the shining sun.

2. Put them out to dry.

3. Once they are completely dry, attach them to some yarn and hang them around the same level on the branch of a tree or some kind of support .

Woo-hoo. My mum absolutely ❤️ ed it. I have attached a picture of how it looks from a distance. Now I am waiting for a breeze to blow to hear the jingle of the keys.✌🏻

Next, moving on to the Virtual Bird House. 🐣This is not made with the intention of attracting birds or as bird nest or whatever. This is only meant to liven up the space. In any case, We have two other bird nests in case some bird wishes to stay over:P

You will need some thermocole sheets, extractor knife, some yarn, paint and brush and glue.

1. You could cut 4 squares of 5*5 cm and 1 square of 6*6 cm and attach the 4 sides and make a base out the larger square. Then cut 2 rectangles of 2.5*5 cm to serve as the sloppy roofs. Or if you live in a place where there is no much rain and a weather that cardboards can withstand, you could definitely use any small boxes like gift boxes or empty perfume boxes to name a few. I could save a lot of trouble as I was fortunate to find myself a block of thermocole. I then, cut and attached a larger sheet for the base.

2. Paint the roof red and the rest yellow or brown. Or you could also paint the whole thing blue. Totally up to you! Also paint a black circle on both the sides for the bird house entry. Or you could cut them out

3. Tie a string to it for the purpose of hanging. Since I used a block ,there was no way I could make a firm hanging. So I had to use multiple threads for the same.

Waah! A piece of DIY makes the rest of the space perfect! That’s all for this time. I am hoping to get back to you guys with a bunch of more outdoor DIYs in a few months or so. I hope you enjoyed this post and let me know what you think of it!

I’ll see you very soon!👋🏻
